With Invisalign aligners you can be confident with your smile knowing your teeth are impressively straight (or on their way). Some people are just born with straight teeth while others need a little alignment. In the past, all we had to offer were metal braces. While metal braces will always have their place, minor dental alignment adjustments are easier, cheaper and less painful with Invisalign treatment.
Getting Started With Invisalign Aligners
Eagle Rock Dental Care dentists are trained in all Invisalign procedures and are an Invisalign Preferred Provider. To get started with aligners, make an appointment with us and mention that you are interested in Invisalign. Not everyone is a candidate for the invisible aligners, but we will be able to tell you if you are and if you’re not, give you your other options.
To get set up with your first set of aligners, your first appointment will include initial x-rays and then make an impression of your teeth so we can use those impressions to make a 3D model of your teeth and then the aligners to fit around them.
With the x-rays and impression, your dentist will devise a plan for your needs that will move your teeth slowly and safely. At this time, he or she should also have a good idea of how long you will need to wear your Invisalign aligners to accomplish your goals. Of course it all depends, but you can assume that you might be wearing your Invisalign aligners for about a year. This is the average length of time for most people.
Even though you might have to wear them for up to or even over a year, Invisalign is very different from metal braces in the area of comfort. These are made from BPA-free plastic that won’t rub against or irritate your gums, tongue or cheeks the way braces might.
You will switch out your Invisalign aligners about every 2 weeks to keep your teeth adjusting the right direction. And you need to keep them in for about 22 hours a day. If you need a break, or need to clean them you can take them out and do that! A wonderful difference between Invisalign and metal braces.
After your treatment is finished and your teeth are beautifully aligned, your dentist may also suggest a retainer to keep your teeth in place. It would be really unfortunate if your teeth went crooked again after all that work. Ask your dentist about your retainer options. There are also soft plastic retainers made from the same substance as Invisalign aligners are.
Eagle Rock Dental Care carries the best products and has the top quality dentists in office. If you’ve been waiting to get your teeth aligned, 2015 is your year. Kick the year off with a fresh, straight start.
