Benefits of E-MAX Crowns

woman receiving dental crowns

Dental crowns are used to cover and protect teeth that have been stained, damaged, or disfigured. Crowns have been around for a long time, but never like this. E-MAX crowns are revolutionizing dentistry. These top of the line, ceramic crowns one-up your typical metal mix crowns in look, feel, durability, and even prep work.

What are E-MAX Crowns?

E-MAX Crowns are dental crowns made from durable, ceramic material to mold perfectly to your smile. The most common crown type is made of a ceramic and metal mixture that has proven to be problematic. Along with an unattractive grey band around the gums, the metal mix crowns have been known to cause allergic reactions. E-MAX crowns are changing all that while simplifying the process of crown placement. E-MAX crowns look great and last a long time without any extra hassle.

Look & Feel

There are many benefits to an E-MAX crown, but appearance is right at the top of the list. Our crowns need to be strong and practical, but looking and feeling natural is a great bonus. Here’s how E-MAX crowns are different from all the rest:

  • Translucent ceramic material: giving you a perfect match to your teeth.
  • Perfect fit: all crowns are molded to fit you just right.
  • Light and Thin: while maintaining it’s strength, the crown’s material adds no bulk to your tooth

Durability

E-MAX crowns are made of a top grade material: lithium disilicate ceramic. This ceramic is known for its strength and translucent color. This makes the crown less prone to chips, cracks and fractures. The real magic is that you get the best of both worlds: a durable, yet delicate crown.

Easy Prep

The tough and delicate nature of the E-MAX crown allows for easy preparation. Not much of the original tooth will have to be filed down in order to fit the crown. While the reduction of your tooth does depend on the damage, the thin material of the crown will fit naturally without sawing your tooth down to a stub. Other than saving some of your tooth’s integrity, the preparation is not all that different from any other crown. It goes a little something like this:

  1. Cleaning & Examination
  2. Drill to remove some surface of the affected tooth
  3. Make a mold of the teeth to construct the perfect crown
  4. Fit a temporary crown
  5. Replace temporary with E-MAX crown
